Jan Rudengren is a partnerof SPM Consultants and holds a Ph.D. in international economic geography from Stockholm School of Economics. He has more than 35 years experience of work within the area of international development assistance in capacity as Sida expert, researcher, staff of the Asian Development Bank and consultant. He has the general competence, experiences and knowledge to have a broad approach to development and poverty which include, management, environment, sustainable livelihood, equity, human rights and democracy, all of which are interdependent.
He has been team leader for planning, monitoring and evaluation of many complex cross sector programmes as well as rural development and forestry sector programmes. He has been the team leader for planning of two large Sida programme in Vietnam, one on rural development and good governance and the other on environmental management.
Since 2006 Dr. Rudengren is the Chief Technical Advisor of a Sida funded Technical Asssistance programme based in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in Hanoi with a focus of building capacity in policy and policy assessment, programmatic approached including results based management and on state management functions, including the function and structure of a line ministry, in an economy in transition from central planning to an open market economy.
